Mark Mason is the Founder and Managing Director of TransPacific Group LLC and TransPacific Group (Asia) Limited. He is a recognized authority on alternative investments and he founded and served as the first Director of The Program on Alternative Investments, Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia Business School. Mark was previously a tenured professor of International Business at Georgetown University, and prior to that a professor at Yale University’s School of Management.
Mark’s past research includes analysis of the evolving strategies of leading Asian institutional investors in private equity and other alternative assets. He is the author of American Multinationals and Japan (Harvard University Press) and Europe and the Japanese Challenge (Oxford University Press) as well as articles in leading business and management journals. Mark is the recipient of numerous grants, fellowships and other awards, and has been widely quoted in publications such as Business Week, The Economist, The Financial Times, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Mark earned a BA from Haverford College, an MA from Columbia University and a PhD from Harvard University. He is a FINRA-Licensed Principal and an SFC-Licensed Responsible Officer.
